Combat 6/02/23

Combat 6/02/23

Pyros explode at the top of the entrance ramp and around the big screen as the crowd go absolutely nuts, as the Combat theme “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath rings around the arena. The camera follows the crowd and their reactions, finally settling on Alex Higgins and Arthur B. Glass.

Higgins: Good evening everyone it’s Friday and THIS – IS – COMBAT! As always I’m Alex Higgins

Glass: And I’m Arthur B. Glass and we’re just two weeks away from CIVIL UNREST! Where we will see the debut of our PROVING GROUNDS matches! One male and one female! The idea is to have several competitors start out in a half-hour iron man match! The winner of the Female Proving Grounds match will get a shot at the IIW FNC Women’s Champion, the winner of the Male Proving Grounds match will get to cash in, on an IIW FNC Television Title shot! The catch is… They can cash in WHENEVER THEY WANT!

Higgins: That’s right Arthur! Both those matches are going to be intense and brutal! But this week, weve got matches just as good! For example, former Global Champion Caleb Scott takes on Trent Darby who had a successful debut last week, PG-13 will go up against Cyrus Youngblood

Glass: On top of that, Alex we’ve got a Tag match featuring Aria Knight and former Women’s World Champion “Daddy” Marisol Beckett and they’ll be facing current Women’s World Champion Jasmine Raye and Challenger, Junko Souma and our Main Event… Global Champion Crush meets Florida Man in a non-title matchup!

Higgins: But first, former Television Champion TJ Alexander will go one on one, with newcomer “The Unwanted” Atlas Moore!

“The Unwanted” Atlas Moore vs TJ Alexander

Charity: The following match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Paradise, Nevada, weighing 245 lbs, he is making his IIW debut, The Unwanted Atlas Moore!

“100 Ways to Hate (Remix)” by Fire Finger Death Punch begins to play throughout the arena. Thick smoke fills the arena as the lights dim, strobing red and yellow lights flash as the song intro plays. As the guitars pick up, Atlas enters, walking menacingly to the ring. He remains focused on the ring, staring a hole into the mat. As he gets onto the apron, he stands with his back to the inside of the ring and removes his mask as the chorus hits. He enters the ring and faces the hard cam.

Higgins: Big debut here for Atlas Moore, going against the former Television Champion.

Glass: It would be a good momentum builder to get a win over TJ tonight.

“The Touch” by Stan Bush begins to play as TJ Alexander walks out onto the stage and makes his way down the ramp. TJ gets in the ring and he and Atlas stare each other down as TJ walks to the corner. He stands on the middle rope and plays to the crowd before getting down and preparing for the match.

**Ding, Ding**

The two men begin to circle each other, trying to find an opening to attack. Moore charges forward, trying to catch TJ by surprise, and attempts a clothesline but TJ rolls under. When Moore turns around he’s met with a few loud chops from TJ as the crowd lets out a loud “Wooo” after each one. The two then begin to exchange chops but Moore eventually gets chopped back into the corner, TJ goes to whip him to the opposite corner but Moore reverses, sending TJ to the corner. Moore runs at him and goes for a big splash but TJ evades and Moore lands face first into the turnbuckle. As he stumbles and turns around, TJ plants a strong roundhouse kick right to Moore’s jaw, dropping him to the mat.

Higgins: Moore struggling in the open minutes against TJ.

Glass: He better get it together, TJ is no slouch, he holds championships in multiple companies.

TJ picks up Moore by the hair but Moore breaks the grip and goes for a Thrust Kick but TJ catches his foot. He makes Moore hop around briefly before stepping over and hitting an enzuigiri before quickly jumping up to the top rope. TJ puts his hands up, playing to the crowd, before launching off the top and landing with a loud thud on the midsection of Moore, nailing a perfect Shooting Star Press and goes for the cover.

1…

2…

Kickout.

TJ gets up and starts putting the boots to Atlas. Stomping on his midsection before delivering a few to the head. TJ then drops back down and locks Moore in a crossface. Atlas reaches out as TJ wrenches back on the face of Atlas. The Referee asks Moore if he wants to give up but Atlas refuses, instead he slowly inches his way towards the bottom rope. TJ pulls back on Moore’s head one last time but Atlas’ fingertips just reach the ropes but TJ refuses to let go as the ref starts counting.

TJ finally releases before getting disqualified. TJ stays on Moore as Moore tries to make it to his feet. TJ gets in front of Moore, his back towards Moore, and grabs his head. Flipping back, TJ hits a Crash Landing (Standing Shiranui) and quickly flips Moore over, easily transitioning and hooking Moore’s arms. Lifting him up and forcefully slamming him back down to the mat with a Game Over (Angel Wings) and goes for the cover.

**Ding, Ding, Ding**

TJ’s music begins to play as he starts celebrating in the ring.

Charity: Your winner by pinfall, TJ Alexander!

Higgins: Wow, what a showing from TJ. He made quick work of Atlas Moore, spoiling his debut tonight.

Glass: Atlas was here physically but he clearly didn’t show up.

TJ looks at Moore lying on the mat before rolling out of the ring and walking up the ramp.

to appear at the table.

Caleb Scott vs Trent Darby

Charity: “Ladies and Gentlemen, the next match is scheduled for one fall! Making his way to the ring, from Baltimore, Maryland… Weighing 200 lbs, TRENT DARBY!!

“Voices” by Motionless in White plays over the speaker as Trent Darby makes his way down the aisle, a mixed reaction from the crowd. He slaps hands with some fans, but remains focused on the ring as he climbs the steps, wipes his feet on the apron and climbs through the ropes, waiting.

Charity: “And his opponent, from St. Cloud, Minnesota… Weighing 195 lbs… This is, CALEB SCOTT!!

Lights go black as Ze Nigmar plays. Caleb’s four hooded drudges come out with torches on stage and line up two on either side of the ramp. Lights stay off as the song intro plays. Once the drums in the song start, a single beam of light from above the ring shoots to the stage as Caleb Scott walks into the light amidst a layer of thick fog. Holding his chain-wrapped bat, Caleb stands there for a few seconds looking at the crowd. Caleb begins to slowly walk to the ring as a short row of fire ignites on either side of the entrance ramp. Caleb approaches the steel steps and places his bat on the top step. He then places his hand on top of it and closes his eyes for a few seconds before going up the steps and into the ring, the single beam of light follows him the entire time. He walks towards the corner and stands on the middle rope. He stares out into the crowd for a few seconds before taking a deep breath, extending his arms out to the side, and unleashing a loud, thunderous scream before the lights come back on.

***DING DING DING***

And the match gets underway as Trent and Caleb lock up with Trent getting the upper hand slightly over Caleb, grabbing his wrist and twisting it into an armlock. Caleb twists and reverses it getting Trent into one himself, back to Trent then Caleb again. Darby is able to throw himself forwards and runs up the turnbuckle, pushing himself and Caleb back onto the mat where he rolls over and covers  Caleb.

1…

Tw… Kickout.

Both men get to the feet and Trent lays a knee straight into Caleb’s gut and again, he hits the ropes and both men shoulder block each other but Darby delivers some striking body shots.

Higgins: “And this match is already starting off intense here as both men are really taking a crack at the whip!”

Glass: “Trent Darby is coming off the back of a debut victory against El Landerson last week, with Caleb Scott doing the same against Cyrus Youngblood…”

Trent lands another knee to the gut of Caleb Scott, then lands a European Uppercut. Trent hooks his arms over Caleb nails an exploder suplex! Covering again…

1…

2…

Kickout!

Trent frustrated stands, and allows Caleb to slowly get to his own feet. Darby hits the ropes, comes back with a clothesline, Caleb Scott ducks it but Trent stops dead and lands a back elbow into the back of Caleb’s head sending him reeling forward, Trent spins around and grabs Caleb for a Russian Legsweep but Caleb hooks his leg around Trent’s, Trent tries again but once more the leg is blocked… Trent and Caleb face one another and Caleb nails him, with a short-arm clothesline. Scott begins to stomp at Trent to keep him down, then goes for a cover of his own.

1…

2… Kickout.

Caleb stands, picking Darby up as he does and sends him into the turnbuckle.

Higgins: “The upper hand definitely began with Trent Darby here but Caleb Scott has turned this around, Arthur.”

Glass: “He has Alex, as he runs into the turnbuckle and nailing Trent with a clothesline from behind.”

Caleb lifts Darby onto the turnbuckle facing him and follows up, beginning to set him up for an Avalanche back body drop him off the turnbuckle! However Trent has other ideas and begins to throw lefts and rights then he headbutts Caleb, sending him hopping off the ropes and back peddling into the center of the ring. Darby waits until Caleb stumbles back slightly then he launches himself off the turnbuckle nailing Caleb with a bulldog! Darby makes yet another cover…

1…

2…

Th… Kickout!

Trent slowly stands up, followed by Caleb.

Glass: “Caleb Scott back to life and these guys are trading blows! Scott kicks Darby in the stomach! He’s setting him up for a blue thunder bomb! No!”

Higgins: “Somehow Trent is able to spin and catch Scott with a Hurricanerana! Sending him into the turnbuckle!”

Caleb turns and as Trent stands and steps in, Caleb goes for a kick which Trent catches and performs a Dragon Screw, sending Caleb to the mat! Trent grabs Caleb Scott up and starts to lift him on his shoulders for the “FACT CHECK” (Lawn Dart), but as he runs Caleb shuffles himself off of Trent’s shoulders and rams him straight into the turnbuckle! He backs off and hits the ropes as Trent stumbles out and SPEAR! By Caleb Scott on Darby. He signals again and as Trent is struggling to get to his knees, Caleb hits the ropes once more and slams Darby with the “GRIM DEATH” (running knee strike)

He makes the cover…

PG-13 vs Cyrus Youngblood

***DING DING DING***

The bell sounds and both men are out into the middle of the ring trying to grapple for a beginning advantage. Cyrus goes behind and gets a waist lock on but PG-13 is quick to grab the ropes before Cyrus can do anything with it. Cyrus lets go and backs at the ref’s instructions but as soon as PG-13 is turned around Cyrus charges and knees him in the gut. He lays in a few punches before pulling PG-13 into the middle of the ring. Snap Suplex and a floatover by Cyrus

1

Kickout!

Glass: Solid opening gambit by Cyrus, not enough to win of course, but a good start to wearing him down

PG-13 kicks out quick but he’s not quick enough to get back his feet before Cyrus, who catches him with an elbow and sends him back down.

1

2

Kickout!

Glass: Again, excellent skills displayed, he’s not letting PG-13 get a break, going for these pins may seem fruitless, but it’s forcing PG-13 to expel energy and wear himself down without getting in any offence.

Higgins: And THAT’S why he’s my pick.

PG-13 kicks out again and once again Cyrus is on him before he can get all the way back up. This time PG-13 is able to smack Cyrus’ arm away and start firing off with punches. He whips Cyrus into the ropes and catches him with a big back body drop on the rebound. Cyrus is back up quick but is unable to defend from a big running enziguri that sends him toppling through the ropes to the floor.

PG-13 sees Cyrus struggling on the outside but not the ref counting. It appears the ref is being kind with the rules… PG-13, a little frustrated at seeing this

Higgins: Good call ref

PG-13 dives off with the outside crossbody. Cyrus is able to kind of catch PG-13 and use his momentum to deliver a huge snap powerslam on the outside. PG-13 arches his back and yells in pain as Cyrus continues to shake off the earlier kick. He rolls back into the ring and like PG-13 did earlier, sees the ref not counting.

Higgins: Come on ref, count him out!

Glass: you’ve changed your tune

Cyrus goes back to the outside and picks up PG-13. PG-13 tries to fight back but Cyrus rams him into the steel steps at ringside to stop the comeback flat. He throws PG-13 back in and goes for a pin.

1

2

Kickout!

Glass: Cyrus starting to show a little frustration at being unable to put the monster PG-13 away.

Cyrus then grabs PG-13 in a front facelock. He throws PG-13’s arm over for a suplex but on the lift PG-13 is somehow able to slide over and land on his feet behind Cyrus. He sticks his head under Cyrus’s arm and lifts him up for the PG-13-Plex buy Cyrus is able to hang on with a tight headlock. He throws in a few punches but it is PG-13’s obviously hurt back that saves him as it gives a bit, causing PG-13 to topple forward, allowing Style to hit a big bulldog counter. Cyrus quickly goes for another pin

1

2

Kickout!

Glass: AGAIN PG-13 kicks out, not willing to just give up this opportunity.

Cyrus pulls PG-13 up and grabs him by the face. He begins to trash talk but PG-13 is able to smack his hands away, kick him in the gut and drop him with a DDT. PG-13 crawls into a pin.

1

2

Kickout!

Higgins: Cyrus may have kicked out but he is unable to get up right away .

PG-13, sensing his chance starts to crawl over to the corner on all fours. PG-13 manages to pull him self to the top rope. He looks down at his still opponent before jumping off with a flying headbutt that connects with Cyrus’ head. The move takes a lot out of both men and the ref begins to count, taking it slower than normal

Both men begin to stir

8

Both are getting up on all fours

9

Both men make it to their feet but Cyrus stumbles before standing back straight. PG-13 pounces on this and shoves Cyrus head between his knees. He lifts Cyrus up in a powerbomb position but instead of slamming him down he pushes Cyrus off forward and shifts the man’s body in mid-air and brings him down with a piledriver.

PG-13 rolls Cyrus over to make the cover,

PG 13!

Aria Knight & Beckett Marisol vs Jasmine Raye & Junko Souma

The Arena lights are dimmed as we return from commercial break with four competitors standing in the ring. Aria Knight and Beckett Marisol on the right, Junko Souma and Jasmine Raye on the left with a spotlight shining down on the announcer in the middle of the ring The two tag teams eye up and stare down their competition as the ring Announcer makes the proper introductions.

Charity: “The following contest is a tag team match and scheduled for one fall.”

Crowd shouts an echo of “ONE FALL!”

Charity: “Introducing first, standing to my left… the team of Aria Knight and Beckett Marisol!”

The fans boo and jeer. Aria Knight gives a middle finger gesture to the crowd and Beckett Marisol spits at the audience in attendance, eliciting a barrage of insults and debris hurled in their direction.

Charity: “Their opponents, standing to my right… the team of Junko Souma and Jasmine Raye!

Junko Souma steps onto the middle rope with her left foot and throws her right leg around the top rope, gazing into the main camera while raising a fist up to cheers and applause. Jasmine Raye stood in the center with head tilted upward and threw her hands up to the skies spurring on an alternating chant of “let’s go JUN-KO” and “let’s go JAS-MINE” as the time keeper rings to bell signifying the start to this match.

Glass: “There’s the bell and we are officially underway!”

Higgins: “It looks like Beckett Marisol and Jasmine Raye are starting this one off.”

Jasmine Raye extends her arm out with an open hand. Beckett Marisol slowly walks forward and meets her in the middle of the ring, looking down at the offered handshake with a playful smirk before slapping Jasmine Raye across the face with a stiff open hand right!

Glass: “That slap got her attention!”

Higgins: “If Jasmine Raye wasn’t motivated before this match, she certainly is now after that blatant display of disrespect.”

Jasmine Raye pulls back a clenched right hand and lunges at Beckett Marisol who quickly back pedals to a neutral corner and leans through the ropes, yelling to “get her off me!” This causes the referee to intervene by backing Jasmine Raye up and allowing her opponent room to come out of the corner to fight.

Higgins: “Beckett Marisol is already renting space in Jasmine Raye’s head.”

Glass: “She can’t wait to give her a receipt and I highly doubt any mind games will stop that from happening.”

Higgins: “We’ll see about that.. don’t underestimate the cunning psychology and abilities of Beckett Marisol or Aria Knight for that matter.”

Jasmine Raye motions with her hands to bring it yelling “come on, let’s go!” Beckett Marisol flips her hair and looks toward the crowd with a look of disdain, shouting “shut up I know what I’m doing” at the fans booing and heckling her. Carefully and cautiously coming back out of the corner, the two competitors engage in a fierce collar and elbow tie up with Jasmine Raye gaining the early advantage backing Beckett Marisol up into the ropes until she reversed the momentum by pulling a handful of hair and spinning Raye around with her back now against the turnbuckle. The referee calls for a clean break and begins issuing a standing five count as Chance Beckett finally seems to oblige. That is until she quickly throws another open hand slap but Jasmine Raye is ready and blocks the strike, returning a loud slap across the face of her own!

Glass: “You knew a receipt was coming and Beckett Marisol looks none too pleased about it but Jasmine Raye has to be thinking ‘now we’re even’.”

A furious Beckett Marisol rushes out of the corner with a clothesline attempt countered into a drop toe hold transitioning with a float over into a front Headlock. Marisol slaps the mat in frustration as Jasmine Raye tightens the hold. Beckett pushes herself up to both knees then lifts Jasmine Raye onto the right shoulder running her spine first into their corner. Aria Knight leans over and claps her partner HARD across the back for the blind tag. The referee acknowledges the tag and forces Beckett Marisol to exit the ring who does so begrudgingly as Aria Knight places her boot on the throat of Jasmine Raye and straightens out her leg while pulling back on the top rope for extra added leverage.

Glass: “Aria Knight tagged herself in rather forcefully in my opinion and Beckett Marisol doesn’t seem very happy about it.”

Higgins: “There you go stirring the pot again, mister instigator.”

Aria Knight waits until the referee reaches the four count before releasing the boot choke, narrowly avoiding a possible disqualification. The referee admonishes her with a stern warning which gives Jasmine Raye the opportunity needed to launch a combination of martial art strikes and kicks ending with a spinning thrust kick to the midsection leading to a deadlift into an inverted back slide.

Glass: “Jasmine Raye has Aria Knight up for the Gringa Killa!”

Higgins: “This match could be over if she connects!”

Junko Souma reaches over and tags herself in before the move can be performed, getting a mixed reaction from the crowd. Jasmine Raye bickers back and forth with Junko Souma as she releases Aria Knight from the finisher attempt who lands on both feet behind her and hits the ropes only to be blind tagged by her partner Beckett Marisol who quickly enters the ring, barking orders for Aria Knight to get out. She refuses defiantly crossing both arms across her chest in a heated standoff. Aria Knight suddenly shoves Beckett Marisol whilst Junko does the same to Jasmine Raye simultaneously. Beckett and Jasmine bump into each other and dance around the ring slightly as they then push each other, causing Beckett to fall into an inside cradle courtesy of Junko Souma and Jasmine to wind up in a roll up from Aria Knight!

Glass: “This match has broken down into pure chaos!

The referee hesitantly drops down, checks both legal opponent’s shoulders and then makes the three count!

1…

2……

……THREE!!

Aria Knight climbs the second turnbuckle posing for the crowd in celebration as Jasmine Raye raises her hands in victory but the referee pushes her hands down then pulls Aria down from her premature turnbuckle celebration before ordering Charity to approach the ring.

Higgins: “Both Jasmine and Aria think they’re team won the match.”

Glass: “Well they both can’t be right, right?”

Higgins: “Maybe it’s time for IIW to invest in instant replay like the NFL..”

The referee leans through the ropes and whispers something in her ear. She nods and clarifies the decision before making the announcement to the crowd.

Charity: “Ladies and Gentleman, the referee has informed me that both Beckett Marisol AND Jasmine Raye had their shoulders pinned at the same time! Therefore this match has been ruled… A DRAW!”

Beckett Marisol chest bumps and jaw jacks with Aria Knight before the referee manages to separate the two, forcing the tag partners to exit to the floor on opposite sides of the ring as Jasmine Raye and Junko Souma face off in the center. Junko Souma and Jasmine Raye are glaring daggers at one another while Aria stares a hole through Beckett from over the apron.

Crush vs Florida Man (Non-Title)

Charity: “Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time for the MAIN EVENT! Firstly coming to the ring, from Jacksonville, Florida… Weighing 190 lbs, FLORIDA MAN!!”

“Bad Boys” by Inner Circle begins to play and as the chorus hits, Florida Man makes his way out from the back. He takes off in a full sprint and slides into the ring then climbs the turnbuckle and pounds his chest like a gorilla.

Charity: “And his opponent from Atlanta, Georgia… Weighing 265 lbs… He is the IIW FNC GLOBAL CHAMPION… CRUSH!!!

“Kingdom” by Downstait hits and a spotlight shines through one of the exits a short way up, in the crowd. Suddenly Crush appears flanked by security and makes his way down to the ring, the FNC Global title across his shoulder. He slaps hands with fans as he gets to the bottom and hops the rail, before climbing the steps, wiping his feet and getting into the ring, raising his hands before handing the belt to the referee.

***DING DING DING***

Glass: “And this match is underway with a respectful shaking hands of the two superstars in the ring!”

Crush and Florida Man lock up and then break apart, they go again and this time Florida Man chops at Crush’s arm, grabs him and sends him into the ropes. Crush rebounds and Florida Man tries to leapfrog him but Crush grabs him midair and places him down on his feet, patting him on the shoulder as he does. Crush turns but Florida Man catches him off guard with a couple of swift right hands, then lefts, right, left, right. Florida Man swings him into the ropes again and as Crush comes back… DROPKICK!

Higgins: “Florida Man taking exception to Crush’s antics there, placing him down like a lost puppy.”

Glass: “Very arrogant and disrespectful by Crush there and Florida Man showed him he wasn’t going to take things lying down…

Higgins: “It didn’t look particularly disrespectful, playful perhaps??”

Crush has by this point taken control again, he whips Florida Man into the corner but Florida Man reverses the move, sending Crush’s chest careering into the turnbuckle, he falls back and Florida Man gets a roll up pin!

1…

Tw… Kickout!

Florida Man rolls off and begins to climb the ropes, but obviously as Crush isn’t out cold he’s back to his feet in no time and grabs at Florida Man lifting him onto his shoulders as if to perform a Fireman’s Carry, he then lifts Florida Man as if to deliver a Suplex but Florida Man shifts his balance, applying a three quarter facelock that he turns into a stunner!

Higgins: “My oh my! Florida Man really caught Crush with the moves there!”

Glass: “He sure did, and Crush was not expecting that!”

Florida Man tries for another pin attempt…

1…

2…… Kickout!

Florida Man hauls himself up and hits the ropes as Crush gets to his feet and finishes shaking the cobwebs from his head and drives a low dropkick to his knees! Crush buckles but stays up, once again Florida Man hits the ropes and does the same thing again, causing Crush to buckle again. Florida Man hits the ropes one more time but this time as Crush is faltering by the opposite ropes he hits him with a clothesline that sends him outside the ring… Florida Man points at the opposite ropes, runs to them and bounces off steaming towards Crush on the outside, he leaps out of the ring with a Suicide Dive but Crush sidesteps him and sends him into the guardrail!

Higgins: “Ouch! And surely that puts this match back in the control of Crush.”

Glass: “It sure looks like it, Alex as he’s picked up Florida Man now and sends him into the steps! Crush nonchalantly climbs the steps and gets into the ring…

1……

2……

3……

Florida Man shakily gets into the ring, but as Crush pulls him up by his head, instantly drives a couple of fists into his sternum, he grabs Crush in a headlock and runs up the ropes, spinning and dropping Crush with a spinning Bulldog! The crowd reacts accordingly and Florida Man points up into the sky before running up the turnbuckle. He signals for a top rope Moonsault but as he jumps, Crush gets his knees up! Florida Man rolls around in agony as Crush stands up, he leans against the ropes and waits for Florida Man to stand up and as he does, Crush delivers a SUPERKICK and before he can fall, Crush grabs him and yanks Florida Man’s head under his arms dropping him with “CRUSHING THE COMPETITION” (Elevated DDT) before covering him…

1…

2……

……THREE!!!

Charity: “Here is your winner… CRUSH!”

Higgins: “And folks this one is over! Global Champion Crush running out the winner!”

Glass: “This is over Alex, you’re right! As is tonight’s show! The next time we’ll see you guys, is when we return on June 18th at the GCU Arena in Phoenix, Arizona for CIVIL UNREST! Goodnight boys and girls!
